The three variables in getting a fair price for your metal scrap
There are three variables that are not obvious to the eye but that have a significant impact on whether you will receive a fair price for your metal scrap.
- Grading - the metal grader determining the type and grade of metals being recycled
- Weight - the weight of each metal grade being recycled
- Price per pound - the price per pound paid for each grade of metal being recycled

Our sorting team has decades of experience grading metal. Types of metal can look very similar…except to the trained eye. Our sorting team can recognize higher-grade metals. Thorough identification and sorting can often lead to higher pricing.
Some customers sort their own scrap, and are trained by our Scrap Management Consultants on how to do so. But the vast majority of our customers have us do the sorting – they combine all their scrap into the scrap boxes. They trust that we know what we are doing in grading their scrap and they trust that we are honest in doing so.

Accurate Weighing
At Calbag Metals we have a 100 year reputation for honest practices and fair dealing with our customers. Our weigh system is no exception and provides an “audit trail” for our customers. Our regularly-calibrated, state certified truck and platform scales are linked directly to our computer system and payment system – there’s no one scribbling weights on little sheets of paper, and no manual changes or “interpretation” in determining the weight of the load.
