Prohibited Materials - Scrap Metal Calbag Does Not Accept

For environmental protection and safety concerns, Calbag Metals cannot accept certain types of scrap metal. Please call us at (800) 398-3441 if you have any questions about items on this list; we may be able to assist in identifying a metals recycler who can help you.

• Asbestos or materials containing asbestos, e.g. pipe insulation or surfacing materials
• Free-flowing oils, fuels, antifreeze, hydraulic fluid and grease
• Items that contain PCBs, including transformers, capacitors, fluorescent ballasts
• Non-metallic materials (garbage, wood, concrete, glass, plastic, cardboard, paper, rags, dirt, rocks)
• Radioactive materials of any kind
• Sealed electric motors or compressors
• Materials containing mercury
• Pressurized or closed containers
• Flammable materials
• Scrap or containers bearing hazardous materials labels
• Refrigerants (including CFCs and HCFCs) found in air conditioners or refrigeration devices
• Ammunition shells containing live rounds
