Clean Water at Calbag

Calbag doesn't just consider scrap metal as it's products.  Each year it contributes 2.3 million gallons of stormwater from an outdoor scrap metal facility directly to the Willamette River, the spiritual heart of Portland and a migratory route for precious Willamette salmon.  While our water contribution is a drop in the bucket, every drop counts, especially its purity.  As an early participant in the broader national movement to improve the quality of stormwater runoff originating from industrial sites, we have over 20 years of stormwater treatment experience.  Today, the runoff from our site is crystal clear and consistently meets water quality standards intended to make the River healthy for ourselves, our finned friends, and future generations of both.

Recycling isn't the cleanest job.  Thanks to our attention to stormwater, our experience with treating it, and our commitment to cleaning it, we demonstrate that recycling doesn't need to be a dirty job.
